Le jeune Joey vient de rentrer dans son village natal, dans la campagne irlandaise, pour reprendre possession du parc à caravanes familial et sauver son amitié avec son copain Martin Lanks. Ronald est un quinquagénaire désespéré, qui était probablement jadis un gentleman respectable de la classe moyenne mais se retrouve à présent à risquer toutes ses économies dans une combine de vente d'ours en peluche fabriqués en Chine, combine destinée à lui faire gagner de l'argent rapidement pour pouvoir payer des médicaments à sa femme malade. Quand, par accident, Joey met le feu à la caravane de Ronald et se voit forcé de la lui rembourser, ils deviennent compagnons d'infortune. Leur plan est de cambrioler Pleasurama, l'arcade de jeu du village, qui appartient à Gits Hegarty.
